PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Turkish steel pipe industry, which started production in 1957, has become one of the largest and fastest growing steel pipe industries of the world.  Turkey has been named as the leader steel pipe manufacturer of Europe and fifth largest steel pipe manufacturer in the world (after China, Russia, Japan and South Korea) with its 3,5 million tons annual production in 2010. In addition, Turkey emerged as the sixth largest exporter of welded steel pipes behind China, Italy, Germany, Republic of Korea and India in 2010. Turkey has secured its position in Europe and the world with its approximately 3,8 million tons annual production and 1,59 million tons of export in 2011.

The existing installed annual production capacity of the industry is about 6 million tones, 2,5 of which is made up of spirally welded large diameter (>406 mm) pipes. In terms of technology, quality and efficiency; Turkish steel pipe industry is on equal terms with its competitors all over the world. Ranging from special cold drawn tubes used in automotive industry to large diameter high spec natural gas and petroleum energy line pipes (and pipes for extracting gas and oil in oil wells), any type of tubes and pipes are produced and exported by Turkish manufacturers.

Turkish steel pipe manufacturers, that ensure high quality, rapid and safe delivery and offer relatively affordable prices, are especially asked in world steel pipe market. Turkish steel pipe manufacturers demonstrated their qualities by realizing international pipeline projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Blue Stream and Shahdeniz pipeline projects. Turkish steel pipes are now used in over 140 countries all over the world.

From now onward, the objective of the Turkish steel pipe industry is to become one of the top three producers in the world. Furthermore, Turkish steel pipe manufacturers will steadily seek for renovation and keep investing in research and development in order to keep continuing their growth and international strength in world markets.
